Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about root canal
Does a root canal hurt?+
With modern local anesthesia, root canals are virtually painless. In fact, the goal of treatment is to eliminate the pain caused by infection. Most patients are surprised at how comfortable the procedure is.
How many appointments does a root canal take?+
In most cases it is resolved in 1 or 2 appointments of 60 to 90 minutes each. Cases with more extensive infection or complex anatomy may require an additional appointment. We inform you of the full plan from the first consultation.
What happens if I don't get a root canal?+
Without treatment, the infection spreads to the bone and adjacent tissues, can form a painful abscess, and eventually require tooth extraction. Additionally, bacteria from the infection can affect the overall health of the body.
Does a root canal-treated tooth last forever?+
With the proper protective crown and good oral hygiene, a root canal-treated tooth can last a lifetime. It is essential to place the dental crown after treatment, as the tooth becomes more fragile and prone to fracture without it.
